All indicators have been pointing upwards since Addcon at Herøya announced a major contract and significant investments in December 2022.

In 2025, the company moved into completely renovated offices.

“It’s been a major upgrade,” says Per Ove Jakobsen, Managing Director at Addcon Nordic AS. “We’ve got brand new office spaces for production, logistics, and administration, spread across four floors here in Building 85 at Herøya.”

Significant growth in staff

The growth isn’t just visible in the facilities. Addcon has strengthened its team by nearly 15%, from around 58 to nearly 70 employees over the past couple of years. The company also currently has six apprentices, bringing the average age down to around 41 and contributing to a young and dynamic environment.

Newly appointed Production Manager Morten Fossen is now welcoming an entirely new shift team—six new process operators joining the production department.

Meanwhile, HR Manager Kristina Lunde is preparing for further recruitment in process, logistics, and quality.

Applications from all over the country

Kristina Lunde, who is herself relatively new to the company (she started on 1 March last year), shares how rewarding it has been to be part of Addcon’s growth.

“It’s been great fun joining the team! A completely new world for me. There’s been a lot to do, but it’s been incredibly motivating.”

She notes that applicants are drawn to Addcon due to its exciting prospects and strong environmental profile.

“We’ve received many excellent applications from all over the country,” says Lunde. “It’s a real bonus to offer new employees modern, up-to-date premises.” She highlights the break room in particular, a central space where staff come together socially—important for building a strong work culture at Addcon.

Pioneers in green chemistry

Addcon has long been a pioneer in green chemical products with a wide range of applications. The company is Europe’s largest supplier of airport de-icing agents and has a long-term contract with Avinor.

“I already feel right at home here. The chemistry we work with is truly exciting,” says new Production Manager Morten Fossen.

“Our green profile and sustainable products are key,” says new Production Manager Morten Fossen, who brings broad experience from Equinor offshore, the R&D centre at Herøya, and NEL’s hydrogen factory.

“I already feel right at home here. The type of chemistry we work with is truly exciting—both in terms of sustainability and future market needs,” Fossen adds.

Addcon focuses on feed additives, products for preserving grass and fish waste, leavening agents (like for traditional ‘hjortetakk’), drilling fluids, and fluids for cooling and de-icing.

Bright future ahead

“We’re optimistic about the future! We have big plans, the owners have great confidence in us, and we’re receiving the resources we need to carry out our projects,” say the three managers—confident and proud.
