With a workforce of more than 800 employees in Telemark, Bilfinger plays a significant role in the region's business community. In Norway, the company has a strong presence in Grenland, with its operations at Herøya Industrial Park serving as one of its principal centres of operations.

Investing in Apprentices

Developing the skilled workforce of the future is a key part of Bilfinger's strategy.

Drawing on many years of experience in the industrial sector, Johan Guldbjørnsen is passionate about competence development and recruitment. He highlights the importance of passing on specialist expertise to future generations through apprenticeship programmes and practical, hands-on training.

"Technical expertise is built not only in the classroom, but also in the workplace. Apprentices are an important investment for us," says Guldbjørnsen. "Helping to develop the next generation of skilled professionals is also an important contribution to society."

 

Working in Close Partnership with Industry

Bilfinger provides a comprehensive range of services, including planning, engineering, installation, maintenance, operations and plant turnarounds. This makes the company a valued partner for major investment projects, as well as for the day-to-day operations of the industrial companies at Herøya.

At Herøya, Bilfinger works in close partnership with several of Norway’s leading industrial companies, including Yara, Vianode, INOVYN and Thor Medical.

The company provides services covering the entire asset lifecycle, from early-stage concept development through to construction and the subsequent maintenance of industrial facilities. This includes engineering design, project management and execution, maintenance services, workshop services, mechanical work, piping, technical support and the modernisation of industrial plants. Through these services, Bilfinger contributes to safe and efficient operations in one of Norway’s most important industrial environments.

During our visit to the mechanical workshops, we saw first-hand how advanced mechanical work is carried out.
