Herøya Industripark AS has initiated comprehensive works to secure and upgrade the high-voltage culvert serving Herøya Nett. This project forms an important part of the broader preparations for continued development within the industrial park.
Increased activity in the area
The project involves both reinforcement and upgrading of the high-voltage culvert located in Gate F adjacent to Building 124. These measures are designed to ensure that the structure is sufficiently robust to handle the anticipated rise in activity in the surrounding area.
In addition, the area around the culvert, along with sections of Gate F, will be prepared for future development. The works include the construction of new concrete walls, the installation of a new concrete deck above the existing culvert, and the upgrading of the load-bearing system for steam pipelines.
The project is being carried out as a main contract and is scheduled for completion during the third quarter of this year.
The project is managed by Sweco, with Hauk Sveinsson serving as the main contractor.
A Key infrastructure project
The project manager highlights the significance of the work:
“This is an important infrastructure project that facilitates further development at Herøya. At the same time, we are ensuring that the culvert achieves sufficient load-bearing capacity and that critical technical installations are safeguarded in a secure manner. The project is being executed with a strong focus on safety, environmental requirements, and effective coordination with other activities in the area,” said project manager Stig Ove Hol, Sweco.
